New Orleans -- How do voters in the city like Ray Nagin, their first-year
mayor and the former general manager of Cox Communications Inc.'s cable system
Pretty well, according to a poll Belo Corp.'s CBS affiliate in the "Big Easy"
reported at the top of Wednesday's 6 p.m. news, after the Cable &
Telecommunications Association for Marketing's CTAM Digital Conference's first
Eight of 10 residents give Nagin high marks, which is about the same as
former Mayor Marc Morial achieved during his first year, the WWL-TV report
Pollsters contacted 457 people in March.
One in three residents here saw crime as the city's biggest problem, up 12
percent from a year ago, but they apparently aren't blaming Nagin, the report
Trust in local government was up slightly, although still not very high, the
TV station reported.
