McAdams, Kitsch in Place with 'True Detective'

Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will join Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell in the lead roles of HBO's second season of its True Detective franchise.

McAdams will portray Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County detective with "uncompromising ethics," while Kitsch is Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle highway patrol officer with a painful life.

For his part, Farrell is on board as Ray Velcoro, a detective torn between mobsters and his corrupt department, and Vaughn is this season's criminal, Frank Semyon. Kelly Reilly is Seymon's wife, partner and "former D-list actress" Jordan.

Last season's highly decorated rookie run of True Detective showcased Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson in Emmy-nominated outstanding lead actor turns in a drama series. Like the show itself, both actors came up short with the Emmy crowd that favored the final season of AMC's Breaking Bad.
