Washington -- Nearly nine months after being renominated,
the Federal Communications Commission's Susan Ness is scheduled to get a hearing before
Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) Commerce Committee March 22.
Commissioner Ness' term expired in June, but she can
continue to serve while her nomination is pending before the current Congress.
The hearing announcement was something of a surprise
because committee chairman McCain has said he thinks one term is enough at the FCC.
President Clinton nominated Ness both times.
