McGorry Named Chairman of Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame

Longtime Multichannel News publisher William (Bill) McGorry was named chairman of Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame.

McGorry will oversee the nominating process and manage the annual awards event, to be held Oct. 22 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

Proceeds from the black-tie event will benefit the Broadcasters’ Foundation of America and Cable Positive.

McGorry was instrumental in the growth of MCN and B&C, and he has received industry awards including an Honorary Beacon Award from the Cable Television Public Affairs Association (now the Association of Cable Communicators), the Joel A. Berger Award from Cable Positive, the Vanguard Award from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Women in Cable Telecommunications. He is also a member of the Cable Pioneers organization.
