MTV Networks chairman Judy McGrath intends to stay put despite the ousting last month of her boss and mentor, Viacom CEO Tom Freston.

In an interview with The New York Times published Monday, McGrath indicated that she plans to remain at MTVN.

“I want the people who work here to know that I’m here and I believe in our strategy and I believe in them,” McGrath told The Times.

MTVN and McGrath have declined numerous interview requests since Freston’s departure was announced the day after Labor Day, Sept. 5, and he was replaced by Philippe Dauman. MTVN also declined to comment Monday.

McGrath had worked with Freston for more than two decades, since he helped to found MTV, where she toiled during its early days.
