'MCN' Names Comcast Operator of Year

New York — Each year, one cable operator leads the others and sets itself apart from the pack. In 2011, the cable
operator that has proven itself to be a force in the industry is Comcast Cable Communications.

On Sept. 26, the editors of Multichannel News will honor Comcast as the 2011 Operator of the Year. In this indepth
report, Multichannel News looks at how the largest cable operator and broadband provider in the U.S. — as
well as the fourth-largest telephone company — succeeds at following its own lead.

After acquiring a majority stake in media conglomerate NBCUniversal in January 2011, the company has barely
skipped a beat, rolling out new products and services. At a time when many cable operators are struggling to stay
ahead of over-the-top competition, Comcast has blazed a trail of innovative products around the Xfinity brand,
social networking and cable modems with speeds surpassing 1 Gigabit per second.
