Mediacom Communications said Thursday that the special committee of its board of directors has hired Barclays Capital as financial adviser to assist in its review of chairman and CEO Rocco Commisso's proposal to take the company private.
The committee also said it has engaged Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP to provide legal advice.
Commisso, who founded Mediacom in 1995, on June 1 offered to buy the remaining shares of the MSO he did not already own for $6 per share. Commisso owns about 40% of Mediacom's equity and 87% of its voting power.
In connection with the going private offer, Commisso has retained J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. and BofA Merrill Lynch as his financial advisors, and Baker Botts L.L.P. as his legal advisor.
