Mediacom Communications Corp. reported robust first-quarter results Friday.
The MSO said its first-quarter revenue of $289.3 million was up 8.7% versus the year-ago period, and adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization was $107.6 million, up 8.5%. Operating income rose 17% versus the year-earlier quarter to $52.7 million, and the MSO cut its capital expenditures 13.1% to $47.6 million.
Mediacom said its total revenue-generating units at the end of the first quarter reached 2.469 million, up 52,000 for the quarter and up 7.4% compared with the first quarter of 2005. The operator posted monthly revenue per basic subscriber of $67.80, up 11.5% versus the prior-year quarter.
“Our phone business is steadily ramping up, and today, we have full-scale marketing campaigns showcasing our triple-play offer of video, Internet and phone, which we call our ‘vip’ package, to nearly 1.6 million homes,” chairman and CEO Rocco B. Commisso said in a prepared statement.
“By the end of this year, we plan to be in front of 2.5 million homes with our vip offering, laying down a solid foundation for growth,” he added.
