The Minnesota Cable Communications Association Monday presented its “Special Achievement Award” to Mediacom Communications Corp. chairman and CEO Rocco Commisso.
Monday’s presentation marked only the third time in the association’s 30-year history that the award has been given out.
Commisso was saluted in “recognition of his leadership and entrepreneurial skills in bringing broadband services to more than 100 small and midsized communities in Minnesota,” the MCCA said.
“Rocco Commisso is the first non-native Minnesotan to be so honored by the MCAA,” Sjoberg’s Cable president Richard Sjoberg said during the presentation.
“His efforts to deploy broadband cable services have virtually eliminated the digital divide in greater Minnesota and brought vigorous telecommunications competition to the smallest of communities,” he added. “Rocco has shown us that an independent with courage and the right skills can successfully compete on a national level with the largest of corporate giants.”
