Mediacom Sheds 3K Video Customers in Q1

Mediacom Communications lost about 3,000 basic video customers in the first quarter, but gains in its high-speed data and telephone businesses helped push revenue and cash flow up in the period.

Mediacom ended the quarter with 832,000 basic video subscribers, but added 17,000 high-speed data customers and 15,000 phone customers. That helped drive revenue to $462.7 million for the period (up 4%) and operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) up 3.7% to $175.3 million.

Mediacom is the fifth largest cable operator in the United States, servicing customers primarily in small markets in the Midwest and Southeast.
