Mediacom Speeds Up Speeding Up

Mediacom Communications Corp. said Tuesday that it has virtually completed its Mediacom Online high-speed-data upgrade three months ahead of schedule.

The MSO said its Mediacom Online customers are now running at 3 megabits per second downstream and 256 kilobits per second upstream, up from 1.5 mbps and 128 kbps, respectively.

Full deployment had been scheduled for May 31, but "more than 99% of our high-speed Internet residential customers can now experience the new faster speeds by simply logging on to the Internet and starting their session," Mediacom Online vice president J.R. Walden said in a prepared statement.
