Mediacom Communications signed a deal with Synacor, which is providing a customizable portal for the cable company's broadband subscribers.
The deal is an extension of the companies' existing relationship, under which Synacor provided value-added content for Mediacom's highest-tier broadband subscribers for the past three years.
Synacor's Web portal platform is designed to serve as the preferred starting point for all Internet-based consumer services, including e-mail, news, video and other features. Using the Synacor single sign-on process, service providers can deliver targeted features and localized information to customers.
"It's increasingly important in today's competitive environment to create and strengthen a relationship with our online customers beyond just superior connection speeds," said Dan Templin, Mediacom's group vice president of strategic marketing and product development. "We chose to partner with Synacor to take advantage of their portal expertise and to deliver a complete Internet experience that integrates an intuitive, engaging portal with outstanding broadband content."
