Midco Taps SeaChange for VOD Upgrade

Midco, a cable operator that serves more than 385,000 residential and business subs in parts of Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, is upgrading its VOD platform with Adrenalin, SeaChange International’s multiscreen backoffice platform.

Midco has been delivering VOD services on SeaChange’s legacy backoffice product, Axiom. The MSO plans to shift to Adrenalin by the first half of 2017, as it looks to centralize its on-demand operations for set-top boxes, and pave the way to deliver VOD to smartphones, tablets and other IP-based devices.

SeaChange said Midco is also set to deploy the vendor’s AssetFlow content management software, which automates the ingest, tracking and metadata handling for on-demand content, including movies and TV shows.

“We’re pleased to continue our longstanding collaboration with SeaChange to continue Midco’s popular ON Demand services and have the ability to expand our foundation for advanced capabilities in the future,” Bill Chatwell, Midco’s video systems manager, said in a statement.

In December, SeaChange said more than 20 customers had been “quoted for upgrades” to Adrenalin.
