Mike Myers To Host 2008 MTV Movie Awards

MTV Wednesday announced actor/comedian Mike Myers will host this year’s MTV Movie Awards, scheduled for Sunday, June 1, live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.

This will be Myers’ second tour of duty as emcee of the MTV Movie Awards, which pits Hollywood stars against one another in such categories as “Best Kiss,” “Best Villain” and “Best Comedic Performance” for the coveted Golden Popcorn trophy.

This year’s iteration will be executive produced by Mark Burnett of Survivor and The Apprentice fame.

“I’ve spent the last year and a half of my life having the most fun ever working on The Love Guru and now I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with Judy McGrath, Van Toffler and Mark Burnett,” Myers said in a statement. “Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom’s mini van; we do beer runs in Will Smith’s four-story motor home.”

Nominees for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards will be announced in May. The network’s awards show site will launch April 15.
