Miller, Morgan Out Of ESPN's 'Sunday Night Baseball' Booth

ESPN has pulled the plug on its long-running Sunday Night Baseball combo of Jon MIller and Joe Morgan.

The sports programmer ended Miller and Morgan's 21-year run on the telecasts by not renewing the latter's contract. MIller could remain as the radio voice of the ESPN's exclusive Sunday night telecasts.

The New York Times reports that it's almost certain that Dan Shulman will succeed MIller as play-by-play man on SNB, while Orel Herschiser, who has been in the booth with the M&M boys, could replace Morgan. Major League Baseball managerial candidate and ESPN baseball analyst Bobby Valentine could become part of a three-man booth squad, accoring to the NYT.

"Jon and Joe have contributed greatly to the success of Sunday Night Baseball for the past 21 seasons," ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson said in a statement. "Over the last two decades, Joe went from Hall of Fame player to one of his sport's top analysts and Jon's Hall of Fame voice and tremendous knowledge of the game have connected with baseball fans everywhere. We owe them our deepest thanks for an outstanding body of work."

Miller, the play-by-play of the World Series champion San Francisco Giants, received the Baseball Hall of Fame's 2010 Ford C. Frick Award. Morgan, a second baseman and two-time National League most valuable player award recipient with the Cincinnati Reds, was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990.
