miraTV Gains a Foothold in Tampa Bay

Miami-based miraTV, created out of the ashes of CNN Latino with locally produced programming featuring such talent as Rick Sanchez, has significantly increased its Florida footprint by securing spots on Bright House Networks in Orlando and Tampa.

As of June 18, subscribers in both markets can tune to channel 93 or digital channel 897 to view miraTV. Over the air, miraTV is available in Tampa via WTAM-LD (channel 30) and in Orlando on WATV-LD (channel 47), both owned by Sima Communications.

Bright House Networks is Florida’s second-largest cable provider and the dominant MSO in Central Florida. Charter Communications is in the process of acquiring the Advance/Newhouse Communications-owned MSO, along with its larger programming partner, Time Warner Cable.

Securing spots on Bright House lineups in Tampa and Orlando, respectively, comes nearly one year after miraTV was added to DirecTV’s lineup in Miami and West Palm Beach. The three-affiliate netlet launched in April 2014 with a mix of news and talk programs, in addition to a nightly variety show hosted by famed Cuban comedian Alexis Valdes.

AT&T U-verse TV customers across the state of Florida can view miraTV on channel 20, a slot it has enjoyed since its inception.
