Mitsubishi Taps VividLogic for OCAP-Based HDTV

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America will use VividLogic's OpenCable Application Platform 1.0 software for its next-generation OCAP-based HDTV sets, the two companies said Monday.

VividLogic said its OCAP 1.0 software is designed for both HDTV sets and set-tops and is initially available on ATI Xilleon (now AMD) and Broadcom integrated circuits.

“After careful consideration of competing vendor solutions, we selected the VividLogic OCAP solution based on their experience with different HD-decoder ICs, IEEE 1394, Java and HAVi and the flexibility of their OCAP framework,” Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America director of product development David Naranjo said in a prepared statement.
