CommScope Inc. reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $7.1 million, or $0.13 per share, on sales of $295.6 million.
The vendor’s fourth-quarter-2003 net loss was $17.2 million ($0.29) on sales of $153.7 million.
CommScope said cable-segment sales rose approximately 6% year-over-year to $162.9 million, with gains in all major product categories.
“Fourth-quarter results were mixed," chairman and CEO Frank M. Drendel said in a prepared statement. "Our sales were better than expected. However, as previously announced, ongoing cost pressures negatively affected our fourth-quarter operating margin. We announced price increases and the restructuring of the Omaha [Neb.] manufacturing facility in the fourth quarter of 2004.”
