MNF Scores 14.4 Million Viewers, Despite Saints' Slaying of Giants


Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints breezed through the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, and despite the blowout in the Superdome, ESPN scored the ninth-largest audience on cable during 2011.
ESPN's Nov. 28 coverage of New Orleans' 49-24 demolition of the G-men -- it was 21-3 at halftime -- averaged a 10.7 household rating (9.3 nationally), 10.6 million households and 14.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen data.
TV's top show on Nov. 28, MNF gave ESPN the night among all networks in households, viewers and all key male and adult demos
The game stands as the seventh most-viewed telecast of the year on cable among households and ninth with watchers, according to ESPN officials.
The deliveries improved MNF's 2011 average through 12 weeks and 13 games to a 9.8 household rating (8.5 nationally), 9.7 million households and 13.3 million viewers.
