QuickPlay Media, a provider of mobile-video solutions, announced Monday it has raised $12 million, bringing the five-year-old company to a total of $40 million in funding to date.
The funding, QuickPlay's fourth round, was led by GMP Securities and included participation from existing venture capital firms General Catalyst Partners, JLA Ventures and Ventures West.
Toronto-based QuickPlay provides services for 15 mobile operators including AT&T, Bell Canada, Sprint Nextel, Rogers Communications and Sirius-XM Radio. The company, founded in 2004, connects to more than 150 content providers, including NBC Universal, ABC and CBS.
QuickPlay had 68 employees as of March 1, 2009.
