Strong growth at its travel business and other recent acquisitions helped to boost InterActiveCorp's fourth-quarter net income 5.5%, from $144.9 million to $152.8 million, Dow Jones reported Monday.

Earnings per share fell to 20 cents from 30 cents in the prior-year period, primarily due to higher amortization of intangibles and noncash compensation, as well as higher shares outstanding in the latest quarter, IAC said.

For the full year, net income dropped 92% to $154.3 million, or 23 cents per share, versus $1.94 billion ($4.54) in 2002, which included a $2.39 billion gain on the contribution of its entertainment assets to Vivendi Universal Entertainment.
