Monihan The Man At Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia

Comcast Sports Group has elevated Brian Monihan to lead its regional sports network in Philadelphia.
As senior vice president and general manager of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, Monihan will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the RSN. He succeeds Stephanie Smith, who was named Comcast Sports Group senior vice president of marketing solutions late last year.

Monihan, who for the past eight years has led an integrated sales force responsible for sponsorship sales for Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, and The Wachovia Center and Spectrum as vice president of advertising sales, reports to Comcast Sports Group president Jon Litner. He starts his new job March 9.

"Brian is an exceptional media executive with over 10 years of experience in the Philadelphia community," said Litner in a statement. "He has led sales for Comcast SportsNet, the teams and the arenas, and his success has helped our network grow. I am confident that his talent and insight into the Philadelphia sports community will help us serve our passionate audience with compelling coverage."
Noted Monihan: "Comcast SportsNet has been the established home for in-depth local sports coverage for well over a decade, serving an audience of passionate Philadelphia sports fans. I'm excited for this opportunity to build on that leadership position and use emerging technologies to reach fans in new ways and extend our brand."
Before joining the RSN, Monihan previously held senior-level sales positions with WPHL-TV in Philadelphia, MMT Television Sales and SelTel.
