Monk Stays Strong for USA

Sunday night at the Golden Globe Awards might not have been the best for Monk, but the USA Network hit series enjoyed last Friday a bit more.

The quirky detective show, starring Tony Shalhoub and Bitty Schramm, posted a 4.5 household rating Jan. 23, its second-best performance behind the 4.6 it recorded the previous Friday.

All told, Monk drew some 5.6 million viewers and 3.9 million homes Jan. 23, when it was basic cable top-rated show among households, adults 25-54 (a 3.1) and adults 18-49 (a 2.2), according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Two nights later, the show (best comedy), Shalhoub (who won the award in 2003 for comedic actor) and Schramm came up empty at the Globes.
