More Groups Rip Burns Bill

The Association of National Advertisers, the American Advertising Federation, a large chain of Hispanic newspapers and Oxygen Media Inc. chairman Geraldine Laybourne Tuesday joined the opposition to proposed legislation that would essentially regulate TV ratings.

“The advertising industry has a long and productive history of self-regulation and opposes government intervention unless absolutely necessary,” the ANA said in a prepared statement about the Fair Ratings Act, a bill proposed by Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.).

Jonathan Sanchez, associate publisher of Eastern Group Publications Inc., one of the biggest Latino publishers in Los Angeles, also sent a letter in opposition to the bill.
