RealNetworks Inc.’s fourth-quarter revenue jumped 17% to $54.1 million, paced by increases in its subscription businesses.
The company counts 1.3 million paying subscribers, including 350,000 to its music services.
RNI's music business -- premium radio and song downloads -- grew to $7.9 million in the fourth quarter from the third quarter's $4.7 million.
The company's GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) net loss was $5.3 million in the quarter, which included $1.6 million in expenses related to its litigation with Microsoft Corp. The year-ago GAAP net loss was $2.5 million.
For the year, RNI reported a net loss of $21.5 million on revenue of $202.4 million. Net loss in the prior year was $38.4 million.
