Motorola Broadband to Debut Five at CES

Motorola Broadband Communications Sector will debut five new products at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Monday.

From its high-definition receiver family, the vendor will debut its:

• "HDT100," a high-definition off-air television receiver that converts incoming digital-television signals for both high-definition and standard-definition TVs.

• "HDT300," which integrates the features of the HDT100 with a digital-cable-ready receiver. This combination tuner/digital receiver is compatible with the Federal Communications Commission's "Plug-and-Play" standards through the use of a CableCARD (supplied by a cable-service provider), which -- when the standard takes effect July 1 -- will allow consumers to connect the HDT300 to any cable service in the United States.

• "HDT500R," which includes all of the features of the HDT300, plus digital-video-recorder functionality and a 160-gigabyte hard drive for recording programs.

From its digital-convergence family, Motorola will unveil its:

• "DCP600," a 6.1-channel audio/video processor that combines HD decoding and digital-cable functionality into a home-theater system. The DCP600 integrates an AM/FM stereo receiver, Dolby Digital 6.1 Surround EX, DTS-ES and HD-decoding capabilities and an interactive digital-cable-ready receiver.

• "DCP601," which includes all of the features of the DCP600 and adds a progressive-scan DVD player, upconverted for higher resolutions on HDTV monitors.
