Motorola CherryPicks MPEG-2

Motorola upgraded the CherryPicker CAP-1000 video-processing platform to support MPEG-2 video rate-shaping, ad insertion and statistical multiplexing.

The CAP-1000—a single-rack-unit device—provides MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 rate-shaping capabilities for standard and high-definition video, for inserting customized local programming and addressable advertising.

The original CherryPicker was developed by Terayon Communication Systems, which Motorola acquired last year for $140 million.
