Motorola, NFL to Push HD-DVR Set-Top

Motorola Inc. is ready for some football, in high-definition and captured on digital-video recorders.

The vendor and the National Football League are teaming up to sell football fans on the benefits of HDTV and DVRs, showcasing Motorola’s “DCT6412” digital-cable set-top with dual-tuner DVR functionality.

The integrated marketing campaign features Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl running back Priest Holmes in a national television commercial, Internet banner ads, a direct-mail/e-mail program and newspaper ads. Fans will also be directed to a Web site with more information about Motorola's dual-tuner DVR set-top technology.

In addition, creative elements will educate consumers on how to get the Motorola DCT6412 from Cox Communications Inc., and they will be personalized with Cox system offers.

“With the ability to pause and rewind live television, Cox’s DVR service helps football fans to make sure they won't miss a minute of the live action,” Cox senior vice president of marketing Joe Rooney said in a prepared statement.
