Minneapolis-based network start-up MovieWatch announced Wednesday it had
finalized an affiliation agreement with DirecTV Inc. to launch the new service
in January 21, 2003.
MovieWatch was founded by Hubbard Broadcasting subsidiary Hubbard Media
Hubbard had previously owned U.S. Satellite Broadcasting, before the
direct-broadcast satellite provider was sold to DirecTV. As part of the deal,
DirecTV agreed to provide DBS carriage to future Hubbard programming
MovieWatch plans to offer 24 hours per day of programming focused on movies,
including news, biographies and reviews, plus game shows and reality shows
dealing with movie celebrities and fans.
