The Madison Square Garden Co. won a dozen 2013 PromaxBDA Sports Media Marketing Awards.
MSG Networks, part of the company’s MSG Media division and consists of MSG Network and MSG+, was honored with 10 total awards in the regional and local division, more than any other regional network or local station in the country.
MSG Networks received six gold awards, including four for its popular music-themed Knicks telecasts, “Friday Night Knicks,” which was recognized for best overall integrated marketing campaign, best TV/video campaign and best editing.
MSG Networks also won regional and local gold awards for best interactive or social media for its #IWATCHMSG camp and best print, poster or outdoor campaign for its Knicks season launch manifesto ads.
The company scored silver in the latter competition for 2013 NHL season opener print and best directing for the open of Friday Night Knicks. It also earned silver for best use of music for its 30-second spot “It’s a Wonderful World on MSG” – Hockey is Back, and best long-form promo for “You Are Here.”
The New York Rangers grabbed gold in the intra-league division for NHL: best integrated team marketing and branding campaign for its “NYR Believe,” and silver in the teams division for best use of an athlete with the Broadway Blueshirts Ryan Callahan in the “Go Skate!” TV spot.

The national competition recognizes outstanding marketing, promotion and design work from cable and broadcast companies, sports leagues, teams and governing bodies; the awards were distributed at New York City’s Capitale on Nov. 19.
