MSG Network started its coverage of the 2011-12 NBA season on a high note, registering its best ratings for a late-night, New York Knicks regular-season contest in more than a decade.
MSG's Dec. 28 telecast of the Knicks' loss to the Golden State Warriors averaged a 3.15 household rating in the New York DMA, according to Nielsen.
That marks the highest household rating for a Knicks' regular-season contest that started at 10 p.m. (ET) or later since March 31, 2000, against the then-Vancouver Grizzlies, which netted a 3.16 record.
Last season, the first Knicks regular-season west coast game -- Nov. 17, 2010, at Sacramento -- scored an 0.86 household rating. West coast telecasts averaged a 1.0 rating last season.
Wednesday's Knicks-Warriors telecast almost doubled last season's opening Knicks game on MSG -- the team played at Toronto on Oct. 27, 2010, garnering a 1.65 rating.
