MSGN Nets Ratings, Demo Gains With Rangers Coverage

Bolstered by season-high marks for its coverage of the Broadway Blue Shirts win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Nov. 28, MSG Network has scored audience and demo gains with its presentations of New York Rangers games.
Thus far, MSG Network's Rangers' telecasts have increased 7% to an 0.80 household rating in the at the quarter pole of the 2011-12 National Hockey League season, according to Nielsen data, up from a 0.75 mark at the corresponding stage a year ago. Moreover, Rangers' telecasts are up 19% to a 0.83 mark among men 25 to 54, from a 0.70 last season.
MSGN recorded a season-high 1.6 household rating with its Nov. 28 telecast of the Rangers' 4-3 win over Sidney Crosby's Penguins. The contest also netted a 1.89 mark with males 25 to 54. . The deliveries were the Rangers best on MSGN since April 11, 2010, when the team faced the Flyers in the final game of the regular season and produced a 2.72 rating and a 2.29 with the demo.
Next up for the 14-5-3 Rangers: MSGN telecasts on Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 as the club skates against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs, respectively.
