The MTV Europe Music Awards will air live and customized on U.K. broadcaster Five under terms of a deal between MTV Networks International and the channel, announced Monday.
Five will also gain broadcast rights to the MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Movie Awards.
The U.K. network will produce tailored, local on-air promotions, preshow programming and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage for its EMAs broadcast. The deal also includes promotional and marketing commitments around the EMAs, which will be held at the Atlantic Pavilion in Lisbon, Portugal, Nov. 3.
“This deal with Five demonstrates the added value of broadcasters' partnering with MTV to create customized programming in order to deliver high-quality, locally relevant content,” MTVN International senior vice president of international program sales Debbie Back said in a prepared statement.
