MTV Movie Awards Hit Ratings Record

The 10th time was the charm for MTV: Music Television and its
movie awards show.

The 2001 MTV Movie Awards was the most-watched in the franchise's
history, with some 20 million viewers tuning in June 7 during the show's
premiere and encore showings. Some 15 million viewers watched the premiere from
9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This awards event scored a 5.6 household rating during its premiere, a 12
percent advance from the 2000version. Among the network's core 12 to 34
demo, the 2001 MTV Movie Awards registered a 35 percent gain to a
6.9.

The program topped all broadcast and cable competition among the 12-to-34
set, including ABC's coverage of game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals, CBS'
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NBC's Will & Grace, Just
Shoot Me
and E.R.
