MTV Networks International Monday announced it has promoted Gideon Bierer to the position of executive vice president of digital media.
In this new role, Bierer will oversee MTV Networks International’s digital media business and strategy for all online and mobile properties. He will continue to report to Robert Bakish, president of MTV Networks International.
Network officials said Bierer will continue to work closely with MTVN U.S. Digital Media to develop strategic digital plans in order to ensure worldwide synergies.
"Gideon's efforts over the last several years have propelled our international digital media business toward increased revenues, expanded content offerings, and impressive traffic growth," Bakish said in a statement. “With his strategic vision, knowledge of the business and his exceptional ability to identify and successfully execute business opportunities, I am confident our Digital Media operations will continue to thrive under his leadership."
Bierer has led the company's digital team since 2005 where he oversaw the international development and launch of multiple international Viacom Web sites, delivered significant increases in revenue and helped establish MTVNI as one of the leaders in mobile content. As a result of MTVNI's 90 deals with operators, its services are now available to 1.2 billion subscribers around the world.
