MTV: October Is ‘Education Month’

MTV: Music Television Monday declared the month of October to be “Education Month.”

As part of the network’s “think MTV: EDUCATION” initiative -- in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation -- long-form shows, public-service announcements, MTV News segments and other programming will air every day during October “to encourage and empower young people with the tools they need to graduate from high school ready for college and work,” the network said in a prepared statement.

“It's important that we all recognize the alarmingly low high-school-graduation rates among American students, and particularly minority youth," MTV vice president of strategic partnerships and public affairs Ian Rowe said in a prepared statement.
