MTV Over Miami


MTV: Music Television will hold a host of events in Miami next week leading up to the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, to be held at AmericanAirlines Arena Sunday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. (EST).

The network will host its “VMA Kickoff Event” at Margaret Pace Park Saturday, Aug. 21 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., featuring performances by Mario Winans and Carl Thomas, as well as the debut of a 25-foot MTV “Moon Man” statue.

MTV will also sponsor nights at hot local clubs throughout the week, including Opium Garden, Banana Joe’s, B.E.D., Oxygen, Mynt, Fat Tuesday and Flavour.

On Friday, Aug. 27, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., hip-hop artist Pitbull will hold a special VMA performance and signing at Virgin Megastore.

And the network will hold “VMA Block Parties” on Miami’s “Club Row” Friday and Saturday, with after-parties scheduled for Teasers Friday and for Space and Envy Saturday.

Finally, Saturday, MTV2 will hold its annual concert to benefit LIFEbeat at Crobar.
