MTV Talks Turkey

MTV Networks International will launch a dedicated and localized 24-hour MTV channel and Web site in Turkey in September.

The programmer already has an eight-hour Turkish-language Nickelodeon channel and VH1’s Europe feed through its partnership with MCD. The new network will replace its current MTV Europe feed.

MTVNI said MTV Turkey will air shows including Hit List Turkey, a weekly Turkish pop-chart program that will be produced in Istanbul and feature popular Turkish music stars. The show’s VJ will be selected through a nationwide VJ contest entitled MTV Turkey VJ Search.

The programmer also plans to develop Turkish versions of series such as Pimp My Ride and Cribs, as well as adding long-form programming, documentaries and specials such as the MTV Europe Music Awards and MTVNI’s MTV Live concert series.

MTV Turkey will target ages 15-34 and will be available via cable and satellite.
