MTV Networks’ Comedy Central, TV Land and Spike TV employees in New York City have traded the hustle and bustle of the Times Square and Columbus Circle areas for 345 Hudson Street in a western portion of SoHo.
Those networks, which are part of Viacom-owned MTVN’s Entertainment Group, and some VH1 production officials left space at 1775 Broadway and 1540 Broadway in recent weeks to occupy offices on five floors in a building south of Houston Street—a much quieter neighborhood.
This way, MTVN officials say, when Entertainment Group chief Doug Herzog is in town from Los Angeles, he will have all his troops under one roof.
In all, the move involves 1,150 employees, MTVN said. Their phone numbers and e-mail addresses will remain the same, as the Comedy Central communications team noted in a change-of-address e-mail last month. Spike and TV Land employees followed later.
