MTV Networks has recast the executive suites at MTV: Music Television and VH1.
Christina Norman, who had been serving as president of VH1, has been appointed president of the music and youth culture network. Tom Calderone, executive vice president of music programming and talent for MTV and MTV2, now slides over to VH1, where he was named general manager.
In addition to responsibilities for the day-to-day leadership, strategy and management of MTV, Norman will partner with the general managers of MTV2, mtvU, MTV Español, MTV Hits and MTV Jams on the strategic direction of those services. She also has oversight for MTV.com and hybrid broadband service MTV Overdrive.
Norman joined VH1 as its general manager in 2002, from MTV, where she had directed the network’s on and off-air promotions and affiliate marketing departments. During her tenure at VH1, Norman revitalized the network, which MTVN officials say has rung up 11 consecutive quarters of ratings gains.
Calderon is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of VH1. He also will work with general manager and digital media unit to help the chart the direction for VH1 Classic, VH1.com, and VH1 Soul, among other holdings.
