mtvU launched an online music destination aimed at jump-starting the careers of unsigned college acts.
The MTV Networks-owned 24-hour college network said its Best Music on Campus will allow college students to build profiles with songs, videos, pictures and blogs.
The best and most popular artists will be recognized with exposure on MTV, mtvU and mtvU.com; the chance to open on mtvU tours and for emerging and established artists; and record deals roughly every month of the year.
mtvU is also running an Artist of the Year promotion, granting a video and record deal to the best college act in the country, with the winner to be unveiled and debut with a live performance on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
