MundoFox, the Fox Hispanic Networks-owned Spanish-language broadcaster, has added the tale of a Mexican immigrant who successfully fulfilled the American Dream — only to return to his homeland to give back to his community — to its primetime lineup on Sundays.
El Capitán Camacho launched at 8 p.m. on March 22. An original production, the show features Mexican telenovela actor Humberto Zurita as Carlos Camacho Espiritu in an inspirational true story about a Mexican immigrant who succeeded in the U.S., then later returned to his beloved Mexico to give back to his community.
With hard work and determination, Camacho achieved many successes throughout his lifetime, including becoming a pilot, a radio host, a TV producer, a successful businessman and the founder of African Safari, a first-of-its-kind animal sanctuary in Puebla, Mexico.
El Capitán Camacho depicts various stages of Camacho’s life, with José María de Tavira portraying him as a young man and Zurita as an adult.
Meanwhile, MundoFox has once again turned to Turkey to boost its primetime telenovela lineup on weeknights. Sura y Seyit, Amor en Guerra began airing at 9 p.m. weeknights on April 6. Suleimán is set in the 16th century, while El Gran Sultán brings the clock forward to the 1920s.
Sura y Seyit, Amor en Guerra focuses on the “love at first sight” story between dashing Lt. Kurt Seyit and the beautiful Sura. Family, tradition, jealousy, honor and war threaten to tear them apart.
Rights management firm Eccho teamed with Miami-based Somos TV in bringing Sura y Seyit, Amor en Guerra to MundoFox.
Similarly, Eccho and Somos TV have successfully landed Azteca América the U.S. Hispanic television rights to the Turkish telenovela Kacak, a story focused on a former policeman who murdered the son of a noted gangster.
