Mystery Channel Scares Up 'Night Gallery'

It's no mystery as to where viewers will be able to catch up with Night
Gallery
come fall: Starz Encore's Mystery Channel Beginning on Oct. 1, the
multiplex network will be home to the Rod Serling's follow-up to The
Twilight Zone
, as the network announced today that it has acquired the
exclusive rights to all 28 hour and 15 half-hour episodes.

Starz Encore will strip the fantasy/anthology series at 7 p.m. (ET/PT),
Monday through Friday. Night Gallery started as part of NBC's
experimental programming wheel called 'Four in One' in 1969, before getting
picked up as a series the following year.

Hosted by Serling, the series, which ran from 1970-73, included performances
by such actors as Burgess Meredith, Diane Keaton, Raymond Massey, Ray Milland,
Leslie Nielsen, E.G. Marshall, Vincent Price, Orson Welles, Patty Duke, Cesar
Romero, John Carradine, Carl Reiner, Bob Crane and Edward G. Robinson.

The 1969 NBC pilot jump-started the career of Steven Spielberg, who, in his
first industry job, directed silver screen legend Joan Crawford in the pilot's
second segment called Eyes.

Other notable Night Gallery directors: John Badham, Jeff Corey,
Leonard Nimoy, and Jeannot Szwarc.
