N2 Debuts Asset-Management System

N2 Broadband is debuting its 'MediaPoint' asset-management system, which is
designed to help MSOs automate the receipt, prioritization and propagation of
on-demand content.

Cable operator Blue Ridge Communications is using the system for its
video-on-demand rollout, in conjunction with N2's pitcher's- and catcher's-mitt
technology for content downloads.

N2 said its asset-management system can integrate with other catchers and
servers from other equipment providers. The system automatically validates and
corrects metadata based on user-defined files.

Although MediaPoint has internal storage capabilities, it attaches to other
storage technologies, N2 said. For instance, MediaPoint can store content on its
system until it's required in the network, thus saving outlying server
