NAB Opens Doors to IPTV

IPTV companies get another chance to pitch new technology to service providers at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas.

Optibase Ltd. will demonstrate live encoding of MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Expert Group) HD signals, as well as interoperability with nine set-top vendors, including Amino Communications plc, Motorola Inc./Kreatel Communications AB and UT Starcom Inc.

Harmonic Inc. also plans to demonstrate MPEG-4 encoding, as well as IP-based transmission and stat muxing of video signals.

Modulus Video Inc. will showcase its “ME6000” HBD MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Compression) video encoder, which the company said has been certified for Microsoft Corp.’s “Microsoft TV IPTV Edition.”

SkyStream Networks Inc. said it will show a new version of its “zBand” content-delivery software, as well as support for Microsoft TV’s picture-in-picture capability for its “MediaPlex-20” and “iPlex” video headends.

Tut Systems Inc. will show its MPEG-4 AVC HD compression system.

DG2L Technologies Inc. will debut its “Neuron 2000” set-top, which supports Digital Video Broadcasting and ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) broadcast services, as well as advanced codecs.
