NAMIC to Present ‘Excellence Awards’


The National Association for Minorities in Communications will recognize its
"Sixth Annual Excellence Awards" winners at a luncheon ceremony Sept. 15 at
12:30 p.m. during its "17th Annual Conference" at the Grand Hyatt New York.

The Excellence Awards are given annually for outstanding marketing efforts in
the categories of print, direct mail, radio, television, public relations,
Internet/new media and diversity-awareness campaigns to operators and
programmers that have demonstrated foresight in developing ethnic-targeted
marketing and PR strategies.

This year’s honorees are:

• Time Warner Cable Los Angeles in the direct-mail operator category for its
"International Campaign";

• The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers in the
professional-association PR category for its "SCTE Operacion en Español";

• Ember Media in the Internet/new-media category for "The Key: The
Interactive Guide to Historical Black Colleges & Universities";

• Black Entertainment Television in the programmer print category for its
8th Annual Walk of Fame;

• BET in both the TV and radio categories for its 3rd Annual
BET Awards Show

• Starz Encore Group LLC in the PR category for Last of the Missippi

• A&E Television Networks and BET in the community-relations category for
"Hispanic Heritage Month" and "Rap It Up Classroom Connection," respectively;

• Home Box Office in the diversity-awareness category for its "Rhyme &
Reason" campaign.
