NATOA Turns to Teleconferences

In an effort to keep its members apprised of the rapid changes in legislation and technology, the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors has instituted monthly electronic teleconferences.

NATOA previously tried to educate its members through periodic “Webinars,” but ironically, not all of the city participants have broadband service robust enough to participate, or security settings in local jurisdictions blocked out the content of Web-based conferences.

The monthly teleconferences, which will debut Jan. 9, will focus in the first six months on trends at the Federal Communications Commission; pending Congressional legislation; wireless technologies; using communications systems for community safety; copyright rules for public, educational and government producers; and state regulation.

NATOA will provide participants with advance materials for use during the teleconferences.
