NBA Finals: Game 4 Top Telecast of Series with 16.2 Million Viewers

Heat's Blowout of Spurs Down 7% from Comparable Game in 2012

The Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs to even the NBA Finals on Thursday night as ABC scored its biggest audience of the 2013 pro hoops championship to date.

The June 13 telecast averaged 16.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen live + same-day data, making it the most-watched contest of the Heat-Spur Finals thus far.

Still, the game -- a 16-point win during which Miami pulled away early in the fourth quarter and San Antonio never made a run -- trailed the fourth contest of the 2012 NBA championship between the Heat and Oklahoma City that drew 17.4 million by 7%.

With the series assured of at least going six games, the audience for the Finals, which has been beset by three blowouts, is expected to grow. ABC averaged 14.2 million viewers,14.6 million and 14.1 million for its presentation of Games 1, 2 and 3, respectively.

Each of ABC's four 2013 Finals telecasts has been the top show on TV on the day.
