Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable and Cablevision Systems Corp. are carrying a
free preview of NBA TV through month's end.
The professional-hoops league said its channel -- which has already secured
distribution deals with DirecTV Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. -- is
being aired by a number of the aforementioned MSOs' systems through April
The preview, which tipped April 21, could proffer as many as seven playoff
games, depending on series outcomes. NBA TV is serving as the national carrier
for those postseason tilts as local rights-holders continue to air those
contests in their markets.
A National Basketball Association spokeswoman said that with the cable
pickups, NBA TV would be in front of some 25 million homes during the preview
Comcast, Time Warner and Cablevision own the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers,
Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks, respectively.
