Leveraging resources and platforms across NBCUniversal, NBC News has launched an English-language, Hispanic-aimed news and lifestyle website.
NBCLatino.com is presenting English-language news, information and lifestyle content, with Hispanic angles on big general market stories, plus perspectives and opinion pieces. Contributions are coming from across NBC News holdings, including Today, Nightly News MSNBC, msnbc.com, as well as Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo. Editorially, NBCLatino.com features lifestyle categories such as family and food, as well as education, politics and news. Moreover, it will regularly profile Latinos creating positive change in their communities and beyond.

The launch of NBCLatino.com comes ahead of the joint venture English-language news and lifestyle network from Univision and ABC News. A linear network is slated to debut in 2013, but a digital offering is scheduled to launch ahead of the 2012 elections.
The new NBC venture, which began as a Tumblr page late last year, builds on the success of the company's first targeted news website, theGrio.com, which launched in 2009. Since its debut late in 2011 the site has kept users abreast of Latino issues and perspective, especially around the upcoming presidential election.
According to NBC News officials, the site going forward will evolve to deliver users the optimal mobile, video and social media experience, and further grow the community already engaged with NBC Latino through Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Chris Peña is the executive editor of NBC Latino, overseeing a staff of bilingual writers and producers at NBC's headquarters in New York City. He also manages the sharing of resources from other NBC News bureaus around the world and Telemundo, in addition to a team of regular contributors. The site also will include special reports from Natalie Morales, Tom Llamas, Gabe Gutierrez, and Miguel Almaguer, among others. Editorially, NBCLatino.com features lifestyle categories such as Family and Food, as well as Education, Politics and News, and will regularly profile Latinos who are creating positive change in their communities and beyond.

"The goal of NBC Latino is to take Hispanic news beyond the usual conversation, toward something more inspired, empowered and energized; to tell and reflect the Hispanic-American story with authentic voices, and make NBC the brand of choice for Hispanics across mobile, online and TV," said Peña.
